Feels like Sunday today-- and that makes me glad I am on summer break.

Bfg came up around 1:00 and we did some running around here and there. Got stuff to cook out--yum! We made burgers, corn on the cob, cucs and tomato salad, baked potato. That guy makes a good burger, that's for sure. We actually made mini-burgers this time because we got those oh-so-yummy rolls that are kind of crusty, but smaller than a regular hamburger bun. The best thing we always make when we cook out is a marinated red onion. It gets sliced a little on the thick side, and keeping all the rings in the separate slices together, it gets marinated in a bath of balsamic vinegar, olive oil, freshly ground black pepper and sea salt, then grilled. Mmmmmmmmm.... it's soooo good. We saw it on the Food Network last summer and tried it and it's one of the best things. We also grilled some sliced pineapple-- it was okay, but not something that made you say "wow! this is great!". After dinner had settled for a couple of hours we went to DQ and got Blizz*ards---we had a buy one get one card. It was yummy, but so unnecessary.

Last summer was the first summer we started cooking out, because I got a gas grill. We almost always make corn on the cob, and when I went to butter mine, bfg was surprised how I did it. I buttered a piece of bread (more than you would usually put on a piece of bread) and wrapped that around my corn and rolled the corn around in it. Perfect! No little blobs of butter sliding off and no drips. Now he does it that way and then he also eats the bread (and mine too, because that's just too much for me).
