It's too early in the year for me to be counting the days til winter break.
Conversation between me and the new principal while we were both trying to connect a vcr to a television for tomorrow's meeting, as he was bouncing back and forth between two different carts of equipment and talking non-stop:
Me: Your style is very different than mine, you know.
Him: What do you mean?
Me: You are SO random and I'm very linear and structured. I'm having a hard time with that.
Him: So what are we going to do to get you on my schedule?
Me: [complete silence]
Another conversation with him --same time period (and remember he says everything with a lot of energy and excitement):
Him: So are you excited about being back?
Me: Not really, I like my summers.
Him: Me, too. So, what are we going to do this year to turn this school around?
Me: {complete silence--a little stunned]
I guess I didn't realize we needed to be turned around.
One thing I had been so looking forward to all week is going out to lunch with people today. On the way to school I thought of places I'd want to go, places we only get to go sit and talk when we have time without kids. Well, it didn't quite work out that way. After wandering around awhile it looked like everyone had gone out in groups on their own. I really miss having LM around--she always came and made sure she got me when they were going out to lunch.
So glad tomorrow is Friday.
