I will so happy when tomorrow's work day is over. By end of day tomorrow, there will have been six CS*P tests administered to tired, worn out kids. Two per day, for three days straight. And this is the second round-- the week before spring break was round one. It's too much-- these kids are 12 years old or less, and it's too much. We didn't have any say in the schedule this year, so it's been kind of a challenge. If we had gotten a say, I know for a fact we would not have tested the day before spring break started, nor would we have tested the day after Valentine's Day. Have you spent any time with a third grader the day after Valentine's Day? Can you say "boing, boing, boing"?

Yesterday our principal announced he would be leaving at the end of this year--he's accepted a position that is considered a promotion in the district. For a man who rarely shares compliments with his teachers he did a great job in the meeting where he made the announcement. I have to say, as much as he's annoyed me this year, I really will miss him. Next year will be interesting--as it always is the first year with a principal new to a school.

Yesterday I watched a movie my sister recommended-- Word Wars. I really enjoyed the movie--and when it was over, I decided to do a Scrabble Club at my school next year. I found out the Hasbro Company actually has school gameboard kits, and newsletters for teachers, and tournaments --it's a whole cottage industry. I ordered enough kits today to have 24 kids in a club--and will probably order another one to have 36 kids. The kits won't be here for about 4 weeks so we won't be able to really use them this year-- but I think I may get an actual game at the store and do some group stuff with anagrams and points and stuff. I know the kids that will probably benefit and do the best will be 6th graders-- oh joy. My favorite group. You know, I've known the 6th graders at my school ever since they were cute, little friendly kids in kindergarten and now they are rude, selfish 12 year olds. Sometimes I want to poke them in the eye with a stick. Okay. not really, but kind of.
