The lemon cakes are done and cooling on the rack. I thought I'd do this one this morning, as I'm leaving in a few minutes and won't be back til later. That way the house can be warm and I won't be here! B's cake actually turned out better than mine--which I'm glad it happened that way and not the other way around. One of mine rose higher, these are both perfect. We are going to slice the tops off to make them even and more stackable anyway, but I'm glad I didn't mess his up. He's taking his to work and would be bothered if his looked weird. Me, I couldn't care less. They are going to be sliced up and consumed--who cares what they look like?
Last night I got an email from a new librarian I'll be mentoring this year. She went from a high school position to an elementary library position--new to the library job completely. She wanted to know if we could get together so I could show her the circulation system, since she can't go to the training next week. Um, no... because 1) I'm not giving up my last day of summer vacation to work, and 2) she needs to tell her principal too bad about missing a staff meeting, she needs to go to this training. I will go work with her next week, but I can already tell she's going to be a go-getter. The person I worked with last year was super scattered and had a tough time getting herself organized and remembering deadlines. Looks like this year will be a little different!
And RR--chin up! We're all in this together!
