I just got home from a retirement party for two people at the school I used to teach at. It was at a music "club" (not the right word, but it's the only one I can think of) in the downtown area of Aardvaark where I live. When I first walked in I thought "Okay, I'm not staying very long" because it was almost all people who teach there now, and I hardly knew any of them. I did find a few people I knew, but after a bit four or five people I taught with a LONG time ago came, and that made it well worth staying. I hadn't seen some of these people for at least 8 years or longer. And we sat and talked like we were still teaching together--we were all that close. They all said they were really looking forward to my party in two weeks, because they knew I'd spent a lot of time tracking down people and inviting them, so there would be a lot of people we hadn't seen in a very long time.

I have to admit, my party has kind of become a monster. A baby monster, but I can't believe how many people have said they are coming. And I know people I haven't heard from will also be coming. It's way beyond what I was planning on--which will be fun, but financially I was planning on a little less!

It's a good thing it's the weekend. I'm so tired I can't even think about going to work for another day. I still don't feel so great, and today was a Big Fake Day for me. I saw twelve rotations of classes that came to make wishlists at the book fair today, and for each one I did a "rah-rah isn't the book fair fun wheee! look it's the book fair! yay! isn't this fun!" speech, and then as soon as they went to make their wishlists I sat in a comfy chair for 15 mins while they looked. Then the next class came in and it was the same song and dance. And honestly, it IS fun, but I was definitely faking it.

My neck still hurts, and ad-ville really helps, but have you read the warnings recently on that kind of pain reliever? I was kind of hesitant to take it--but it's about the only thing that helps.

The couch is calling.

That's why I like taking someone else's Vicodin that they gave me in a ziplock bag. No warning labels.
