This week has kicked my proverbial ass. Sick cat, book fair set up and class previews for two days, teachers who can't or choose not to follow directions (and rr I am NOT referring to you so stop it), repeats on all my TV shows, collecting and compiling orders for books for our author visit in a couple of weeks (nearly 80 books ordered), schedule changes at school out the wazoo (and not just for me--it's crazy these days, and because of the book fair I'm one of the people making the changes for my poor teachers), just for starters. I'm having to feed my kitty baby food meat--the pureed kind (chicken, turkey). It's a wonder all babies don't grow up to be vegetarians after eating this stuff. The smell makes me gag when I take it out of the microwave.
Tomorrow night is our school sock hop-- and no, I'm not going. I'm at the ACenter tomorrow night, but I don't know that I would go to the sock hop anyway. This year instead of asking teachers to man the cotton candy machine, the PTA asked us to sign up to monitor all the unruly children that run all over the place, climb the bleachers, and are general dorks (isn't that what the parents are supposed to be doing?). You can imagine how the teachers felt about that one. Even so, some people still signed up for that duty. Brave, brave people. I was definitely not one of them.
And for tonight: an evening of old Alfred Hitchcock episodes. I have two dvds that arrived today. And tomorrow-- no scheduled classes in the book fair. Kids and teachers will still wander in and out, but I'm not responsible for them. Honestly, though, the teachers need more help than the kids do most of the time. (again, rr--not you, my dear).
And here's some info I discovered last night--which nearly gave me a heart attack just reading it. The mac and cheese at N**dles and C*mpany has 970 calories, 44 grams of fat, 1160 grams of sodium, 99 grams of carbs, but it also has a whopping 41 grams of protein (82% of your daily requirement). Just thought you'd like to know.
